Dale Vander Nelson

Vander Dale Nelson Sr. passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 86 . He was born in Biloxi, MS where he was a lifelong resident. He enjoyed shrimping and working on the boat with his son and his family. Dale was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elias and Addie Nelson; his wife, Edna Nelson; daughter, Barbara A. Summerlin; stepson, Thomas Hughes; brothers, Maril Nelson, Edgar Nelson, Charles Signal Nelson; and sisters Nedra Harvey, Theo Breland and Barbara Totten. He is survived by his sons, Vander Dale Nelson Jr. and Maril Nelson; stepsons, Harvey Hughes and Jimmy Hughes; daughters, Addie Herbert, Dana Nelson and June Nelson; 23 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Kottom Ray Nelson; and sister, June Hokamp; and special granddaughter and caregiver, Nita Lyons. Services will be held Saturday 28, 2015 at 4:00 pm at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home.
