Mr. Dalton James Mattina, 83, of Biloxi, MS, died Friday, November 18, 2005. Mr. Mattina was a life long resident of Biloxi. He served his country in WW II in the U. S. Navy CB's. After his military service he came home and worked in the seafood industry and later owned and operated his own shrimp boat. Dalton joined the Biloxi Fire Department in 1953 and retired as assistant chief in 1974. He loved sports, hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Mattina was a lifelong member of St. Michaels Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Mattina, Sr. and Sidonia Fayard Mattina. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Frances Kuluz Mattina, and their three sons, Anthony and his wife, Pat, Nick and Glenn. He had eleven grandchildren, Anthony II, Mark, Delene, Alicia, Nick (Jody), Dean, Nickol, Ashley, Glenn, Jr., Johnny and Annie Winters Mattina. He also had seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Mattina, Jr. and Roy Mattina, Sr.
Dalton's family and friends will remember him as being a loving and honest man who was respected by all who knew him. He will be missed dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour before service time. Burial will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
