Daniel (Danny) Melvin Creel

Daniel (Danny) Melvin Creel, 65, native and resident of Biloxi passed away May 6, 2009 in Mobile, Alabama at USA Medical Center. Danny was born June 18, 1943, graduating from Biloxi High School in 1962. He was an active member of several local dance bands in the 60's including "The Crest" and "The Checkmates". His avid love of music, especially classical (Beethoven) and Scottish/Highland was evident in his everyday life. Danny enjoyed playing the tenor saxophone, violin and bagpipes. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the Biloxi Fire Department after 20 years of service. He was also employed by the Isle of Capri in the transportation department for 15 years. Danny was a Mason, a Duke in Bonne Vivantes and Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez carnival associations, a coach in Biloxi Southern Little League, and a member of Big Ridge Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Richard Creel; grandmother, Mary (Banny) Creel and special pets Cheri, Heidi and Spookey. Danny is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Mary Leonard Creel; children, Tammy Lynne, Forrest Daniel and Timothy Richard Creel; his brothers, Richard (Diane) Creel of Biloxi, Bill (Susan) Boudreaux of Brooklyn, MS and Randy (Brenda) Creel of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Creel and Madelyn Felsher; Aunt Verna Mae Klein; several nieces, nephews and our special friends, Donna Watts and June Lilley. All loved and admired him and will miss him very much. Danny will be always remembered for his wit, warmth, intelligence, great sense of humor and most of all his giving nature. Pall Bearers are, Richard Creel, Bill Boudreaux, Randy Creel, Chris Creel, Brian Sheffield, Mike Creel, Barney Creel, Chuck Klein. Honorary Pall Bearers are, Rick Creel, Alex Bowling and Chip Boudreaux. Memorials can be made to: Big Ridge Baptist Church, 3230 Big Ridge Rd., D'Iberville, MS 39540. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:30 pm at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral, Biloxi. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 2:30 pm preceding the services.
