Dr. Daniel Leland Koch, born January 31, 1937 in Peoria, IL, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years on Monday November 23, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Dr. Koch was a longtime resident of Mobile, AL. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a Bachelors of Arts and the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a Masters of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology. He enjoyed serving the community as a clinical psychologist for over 40 years.
Dr. Koch is preceded in death by his parents Julia Farrelly Koch and Leland Francis Koch; his wife of 55 years, Roberta Pearson Koch; and his sister, Mary Anne Koch Birdoes.
He was devoted to his family and is survived by his children Elizabeth Koch (Daniel Vujnovich), Michael Koch, Charles Koch and Kathleen Seibt (Bryan); his grandchildren Jennifer Mezick (Will), Michelle Davis (Tim), Katherine Seibt, Patrick Koch, and Caroline Heeren (John); his great grandchildren James Mezick, Olivia Mezick, Madeline Davis and Walker Davis; his brother David (Donna) Koch; and his many nieces and nephews.
Dr. Koch will be laid to rest with military honors at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS on Tuesday December 1st at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Coastal Alabama Down Syndrome Society PO Box 9525 Mobile, AL 36691 in honor of Dr. Koch and his great granddaughter, Olivia Grace.
