Daniel Lee Scott, "Scotty", 89 years old of Biloxi, MS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, MS.
Scotty was born August 19, 1934, in Denver, Colorado to parents, George James and Helen Frances Scott He graduated from Brush High School and attended Bellevue and Park Colleges, where he received a degree in Spanish. Scotty was an avid dancer and loved to work in his immaculate yard. His hobbies included golfing and going on cruises with special friends and family. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force, and then retired as the Men's Department Manager of Gayfer's Department Store. He also worked at the family business, Biloxi Transfer and Storage Company.
Scotty is preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen; and siblings, George James, Jr., James Edward, Robert, Judith, and William.
Mr. Scott is survived by his spouse, Margaret "Margie,"; and his children, Steven Scott, Jean Ann Hulse (Robert), Kevin Scott (Shannon), Barbara Ziz (George), Frank Taylor (Charlene), and Gail Stevens (Mark). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Brian Hulse (Kassie), Riley Scott, Devon Alexander (Bryan), Jamey Ferguson, Danny Anderson (Jenny), Kellie Lamb (Tom), Christopher Ziz (Randi), Ashleigh Martin (Jesse), and Kaitlin Cates (Charles); 22 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, John Michael Scott and David Scott.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, September 11, at Nativity BVM Cathedral, in Biloxi, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place one hour before the Mass. Interment will follow immediately at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Loyalty and Allegiance Halls at the Armed Forces Retirement Home for their dedicated care for Scotty and also Margie.
