Danny Thomas Irvin

Danny Thomas Irvin passed away peacefully on September 4, 2022 at the age of 72 in Gulfport while surrounded by his loved ones.

Danny was born on July 4, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama and was a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi. He will be greatly missed by his two sisters, Patricia Irvin Jermyn, Rebecca Irvin Escude, and the many nieces and nephews that he treated like his own children. Danny is the son of W.C. and Prudie Irvin. He was predeceased by siblings, James Otis Irvin, W.C. Irvin, Gerald Andrew Irvin, and Freida Margaret Irvin.

Danny was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School, Class of 1969. While proudly serving in the Marine Corps for 19 years, he received training as an electrician. As a Vietnam Veteran, Danny had a deep love for his country. Throughout his life, he was subcontracted as an electrician. Danny loved that each job was a new adventure. He was an active participant in many of the local races.

During his retirement, he lived with his sister we all called Aunt Pat and her wonderful husband Uncle Ed. Danny took very good care of Ed while he became ill. Family was important to him. He enjoyed walks around the neighborhood, old movies, scrabble games with Pat, and going out to eat. His favorite was eating lunch with his niece, Angel, “who always forgot her purse.”

Our family could always call “Uncle Danny” for advice and help. Danny truly loved his family. He was a fighter and fought to the end. His absence will be deeply felt.

A memorial service will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport. Friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Irvin family.
