D’Ante Terel Burks “Turtle”, age 25, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 in Gulfport, MS.

D’Ante was born on October 5, 1993 in Rockville, New York. He was a graduate of Café Climb and worked at Cracker Barrel. He enjoyed cooking, being a class clown, listening to the Blues and spending the time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Deacon Terry John Burks; grandmother, Matte Cornelia Burks; grandfather, Lurie Rowe; grandmother, Caristine Rowe; uncles, James and Frank Burks; uncle, Jessie Smith; aunt, Christine Bouknight; cousin, Brittany Lattimore; niece, Tiffany Blaylock; and by his niece, Yazlyn Fairley.

Left to cherish his memory include his parents, Brenda Burks and John Burks; his twin brother, Dant'e Burks; his brothers, John Burks Jr, Juacoby Fairley, Jahnmani Burks (Haleigh Hudson) and Armani Burks; sisters, Nicole Blaylock, Jaslyn Burks, Kiara Norman, Juaquetta Fairley and Shamari Green; nieces, Lexiss Blaylock, Janiyah Green, Ay’Jahnlic Burks, Yaniya Fairley, Maddison Norman, Janiah Fairley, Jalana Fairley and Jazaya Fairley; nephews, Krisjeohn Burks, Semay Travis, Shunjeohn Burks, Jayce Fairley, Tyjeohn Burks, Yacoby Fairley, Noah Blaylock; uncles, Terry Burks, Jr., Lester Rowe, Willie Smith, Ray Smith (Viola Smith) and Arthur Smith (Nadine Smith); aunts, Alice Smith-Carroll (John Carroll)and Cailo B.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Tennessee Avenue in Gulfport. Friends may visit one hour prior. Reception will follow at the church after the service.

Pallbearers include: Jahnmani Burks, Armani Burks, James Young, Teco Hicks, Juacoby Fairley and Krisjeohn Burks.
