Darren Scott Derouen, 61, of D’Iberville, MS passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024 in Ocean Springs.
Scott was born in Biloxi, MS on March 14, 1963 to Fabian Derouen and Mary Margaret (Landry) Derouen. He graduated from St. Martin High School in 1981 and worked formally as a car sales manager. Scott made an impression on everyone he met from an early age. Having a tireless work ethic instilled in him by his father, who worked as a milk delivery man, Scott quickly began to display the drive, determination, and leadership capabilities that would mold the man he would later become. He was a standout athlete on the football field at St. Martin High School and quickly made a name for himself among the coast football community, even as an underclassman, gaining respect and admiration from teammates, coaches, and opponents. He was also well liked amongst his classmates, being voted Best Personality and Friendliest his senior year.
After the arrival of his two sons, Bronson and Jourdan, Scott took a new career path that would see him become one of the most knowledgeable, craftiest, and hardest working car salesmen in the area. After over 25 years in the car business, he created lasting friendships with coworkers and customers that would last a lifetime.
His true pride and joy would come at the arrival of his daughter Ramsi. As much as he loved molding his sons and nephews into hardworking young men, he loved nothing more than being a girl dad and that was displayed by his unwavering love and support for his baby girl until the day he left us. His heart became even more full when he became a grandpa to his granddaughters, Jaelyn and Oaklyn and grandsons, Oliver and Fabian. Anyone that knows Scott knows his favorite thing in the world was undoubtedly being a paw paw.
"He would give you the shirt off his back" is an often cited quote to describe a supportive friend or family member, but there may be no man who ran through more shirts than Scott Derouen. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering words of encouragement, or just listening to someone who needed to vent, he was the go-to man for countless family members and friends. To many besides his nephews and nieces, he was "Uncle Scott" -a mentor, a listener, and a source of constant and consistent love and wisdom. He took young people under his wing and made them feel like family, offering guidance and support.
Scott Derouen's passing leaves a void in the lives of so many, but his loving memory will carry on through the countless stories, laughter, and lessons his loved ones shared with him. Anyone who knows Scott Derouen knows he wouldn't want to dwell on his passing. He would tell you to crack open your beer, poor some crown in your cup, turn on some good music and enjoy the company of your loved ones.
Do not worry about him as he's reunited with his family. His dad, mom, and little brother were waiting on him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fabian and Mary Margaret (Landry) Derouen; his brother, Shannon Troy Derouen; his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Elgie Derouen; his maternal grandparents, Wilbert and Mary Landry; and his lifelong best friend, Albert Ahern.
Scott’s survivors include his children, Bronson (Hope), Jourdan (Emily) and Ramsi (Julian); his grandchildren, Jaelyn, Oaklyn, Oliver and Fabian; his stepchildren, Beth, Michael, Natalie, Blake and Summer; his nephews, Kieran and Keaton and their mother Paula; and his lifelong best friends, Tommy Saucier, Presley Letort and Timmy Alley.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who has expressed their love, support, and prayers. We will forever cherish the memories we shared and keep Scott in our hearts.
