David Anthony Mitchell, 78, of Biloxi, MS died on Thursday, July 7, 2011. Mr. Mitchell lived in Monroe, GA for 20 years before retiring to the Gulf Coast. He worked for over 34 years with the Georgia Dept. of Transportation as head of the Geotechnical Division. After retirement he continued as a private enviromental engineer. Mr. Mitchell was a member of First Baptist Church, the Biloxi Elks Lodge #606 and the National Guard from 1951-1953.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse J. and Mildred Belsome Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Helen Comisky Mitchell of Biloxi, MS; daughters, Lisa Michie of New Orleans, LA and Leslie (Ken) Taylor of Macon, GA; son, David (Mary) Mitchell, Jr. of Biloxi, MS; sister, Lynder Yancey of Ocean Springs, MS; four grandchildren, Taylor and, Katharine Michie, Kenley and Chloe Taylor.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 8, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
Both will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery.
