David L. Bethea

David L. Bethea, age 89, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017. David was born in Bessemer, Alabama on April 5, 1928. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Jasper F. Bethea and Bessie Bethea; his sister, Eleanor Sloan; and his wife, Mildred Boatright Bethea. David's survivors include his three daughters, Kathleen Tosch of Ocean Springs, MS, Janet Sullivan of Theodore, AL, and Lisa Kavanagh of Mobile, AL; and his three grandchildren, Jennifer Tosch, John Tosch, and Tom Sullivan. David attended Bessemer High School and the University of Alabama. He retired from the Federal Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base as a training manager in 1987. David was a Master Mason and a member of the St. Martin Lions Club and the American Legion. David was an avid exercise enthusiast. He loved running and weight lifting, as well as hunting and fishing. He attended Lemoyne Boulevard Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 on, with a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
