David Clifton Massey

Reverend David Clifton Massey, age 74, of the Latimer Community, died Friday, May 18, 2007, in Latimer. Reverend Massey was born on March 23, 1937, in Greene County, Mississippi. He was a resident of the community for forty years and a former resident of Leakesville, MS. He worked in construction, was a car mechanic and was a welder and member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local # 430. Mr. Massey served in the US Air Force for four years where he was a jet engine mechanic and continued that trade for ten years after he got out of the service. He became an ordained minister in 1967 with the Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Lillie Mae Massey, three brothers, Dennis Massey, Henry Massey and Delbert Massey, two sisters, Doris Mae Brown and Dorothy McCleod, a granddaughter, Brittany Gail Pittman, a great-grandson, Anakim Massey, and son-in-law, Richard Dirk Pittman. Survivors include his wife of fifty two years, ten months, Julia "Blue" Herndon Massey of Latimer, four daughters, Vicky (Larry) Jones of Latimer, Belinda (Ron) Hargett of Gulf Breeze, FL., Ramona (Paul Dale) Mixon of Winnsboro, LA., Gail (Joey) Killingsworth of Latimer, five sons, David (Janie) Massey of Larue, Reverend Paul (Martha) Massey of Winnfield, LA., Gary (Sheila) Massey of Brookhaven, MS., Aaron (Rochelle) Massey of Madison, MS., and Reverend Glenn (Madonna) Massey of Wisner, LA., a brother, Dewitt (Barbara) Massey of Lucedale, MS., twenty two grandchildren, Michael (Melodie) Massey, Daniel (Brandis) Massey, Emily Jones, Cody Jones, Priscilla Massey, Keith Massey, Paula Massey, David Massey, Rachael Massey, Carson Massey, Christy (Chris) Schmoll, Erin Massey, Kristin Massey, Kayla Massey, Amanda Mixon, Jessica Mixon, Jaudon Mixon, Dakota Mixon, Brandon Pittman, Destiny Pittman, Chapel and Easton Massey, and five great-grandchildren, Lauren Peltier, Julia Massey, Logan Massey, Isaac Massey and Makayla Nijoka. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 20, 2007, from 5-8 PM, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Monday, May 21, 2007, there will be a 12:30 PM church service at the Ocean Springs Pentecostal Church on Rose Farm Road in Ocean Springs, where friends may visit one hour prior to service Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
