David "Dave" Thomas Ausborn died at his home in Biloxi on May 23, 2005, surrounded by his wife and children.
He is probably best remembered as the owner-operator of the Biloxi Post Office Snack Bar of over 32 years. There, many people shared a cup of Dave's delicious coffee as well as the latest news around town. Dave later maintained the lounge and vending areas at the U.S. Naval Retirement Home and most recently has a food service contract at the CB Base in Gulfport. His work was through the Mississippi Rehabilitation for the Blind.
Dave was born on December 11, 1928 in Parham Community in Monroe County, Mississippi. He served in the Korean War with the United States Army. He honorably served his country as artillery leader.
He was a master mason of the Magnolia Lodge #0120 and a lifetime member of VFW post 2434, lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans chapter #MS17.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Lynda Sue Ausborn, one daughter, Jennifer Moore and husband Brandon of Biloxi, MS; three sons, Michael Ausborn and Beth of Jackson, MS, Steven Ausborn of Amory, MS, and Jeffery Ausborn of Roanoke, VA; 10 grandchildren, one great grandson, and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, Ellie R. Ausborn, mother, Amy Parham Ausborn, and brother, William B. Ausborn.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2005 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Bradford-O'keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, Biloxi. The memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm in the chapel.
