David Vollie Franklin, age 66, died Sunday, December 6, 2015 in Ocean Springs.
David was born September 13, 1949 to Mary Louise (Yeager) Franklin and Vollie Franklin in Brookhaven, MS. He was a graduate of Brookhaven High School and Colin Jr. College, moving to the Gulf Coast in June, 1969. He served as Engineering Supervisor of Hull Technical Section for Ingalls Shipbuilding. He retired in 2014 after 44 years of service.
He was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church in Lincoln County, MS. David was a kind, loving and generous man who devoted much of his life and resources to his immediate family and his two beloved companions, Robb Haslanger and Avery Brooks.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his younger brother, Dale Michael Franklin.
David’s survivors include his older brother, Wesley “Tommy” Franklin; his sister, Linda McCullough; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer James, Ashley James, Lindsey McCullough, Shane McCullough, Wesley Scott Franklin and Nolan David Franklin.
Funeral Services will be held at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Brookhaven, MS on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
