David Dean Gemmill

David Dean Gemmill, age 67, of Biloxi, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Ocean Springs surrounded by family.

He was born on December 24, 1954, in Biloxi to Walter Earl and Camille Dean Gemmill. David accepted Christ as a child at First Baptist Church Biloxi where he participated in the youth program and mission trips.  He graduated from Biloxi High School in 1974 and was a member of the Biloxi Indian Marching Band. After beginning a career in retail, he earned his Associates Degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College in Business Administration.  David’s career included insurance sales management and automobile sales.

David learned to fish at an early age by spending time with his grandfather, John Dean.  Being in a boat, pursuing the next big catch was a passion he enjoyed throughout his life on the Coast.  He was also a great cook and enjoyed preparing dishes for family and friends. There was always something good and spicy to eat on the stove at his place.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Earl and Camille Dean Gemmill, and grandparents, John and Zera Evans Dean, all of Biloxi.

David’s survivors include his children, Dustin (Candace) Gemmill, Alisha Gemmill (Christopher) Wise and Brooklyn Gemmill (Joshua Hagbom); three grandchildren, Wryker, Wrenley, and Witten Wise; his former spouse, Cathy Catchot; his siblings, Altha Gemmill Delacruz, Madalan Gemmill (Eric)Lennep, Ruth Gemmill Williams and Edward Gemmill; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 3:00 pm. Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until service time.
