Mrs. Delta Thibodeaux Watson died peacefully in her sleep in her new home at Heaven's Harbor. She was 86. Delta was born and raised on Biloxi Back Bay and was the oldest daughter of Felcian and Eunice Thibodeaux.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Watson; infant son, Gary; infant daughter; Caroline; daughter, Adrienne Norton; parents; brothers, Roy, Levis, Alfred and Edward Thibodeaux, step-sons, Lewie Watson and James Watson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Dale Norton Fremin of Ocean Springs; two sons, Ronald Norton and his wife, Sherry, of Biloxi and Earl Norton of Ocean Springs; step-daughter, Elaine McClain of Richton, MS; three sisters, Della Hartgrove of San Angelo, TX, Bea Priemeaux of Biloxi, and Mae Myers and her husband, Bud, of Ft. Myers, FL; and two brothers, Joseph Adam Thibodeaux and his wife, Inge, of Florence, MS, and Walter Thibodeaux and his wife Girlie, of Ocean Springs. She was gifted with eight grandchildren, Ronald Norton, Jr., Randy Norton, Kellie Norton, Michael Norton, Tammy Norton Johnson, Alan Norton Gay, Jimmy Norton Gay and Aaron Lee Noble; and nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Nicholas Norton, Beth Durand, Ava and Noah Johnson, Michael Jr. and Anthony Norton, and Alan and Trevor Gay.
Delta enjoyed living life to the fullest and did until the end of her life. She loved going to the American Legion and visiting with her friends and watching the Saints during football season.
The family would like to thank Dr. Regina Mills and her staff for their years of caring and friendship. The excellent medical care you all provided kept her alive and in our lives for many years. With special appreciation to her nurse and caregiver, Debbie Roberson, and her caring staff at Heaven's Harbor for giving Mom the special attention she needed during her final weeks here on earth and for giving her respect and dignity until the end.
Visitation is Thursday, August 19, 2010, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery next to her husband, Nelson. They will finally be together after being apart for 20 years.
