Derrell Alton Cook, Sr.

Mr. Derrell Alton Joseph Cook, Sr., 78, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Cook, a native of New Orleans, LA, moved to Lafayette, LA, in 1950. He was a successful businessman in air-conditioning and heating. He retired to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi in 1993 where he and his wife, Lynda Cook, resided in Ocean Springs. He is survived by his six children, Sandra Friedberg and her husband, Ted; Katherine Ray and her husband, James, Patricia Cook, Kimberly Cook, Derrell Cook, Jr., and Aimee Racca and her husband, Shelby; four step-children, Tina Bankston, Scott C. Taylor, Torria Dale, and Chad Taylor; one brother; two sisters; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Cook, Sr. and Augusta Tucker Cook; a brother and a sister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Today, Monday, July 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel, MS. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.
