Desiree Koenigs, 57, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at home surrounded by her family after struggling valiantly with liver complications. She is survived by five of her seven siblings, her two sons Johnny and Rustin Pearson, 8 grandchildren and her Godson. Desiree was born on December 2, 1957 in Rutland, Vermont to Pat and EL Lizana.
She married the love of her life, William Koenigs who preceded her in death on October 8, 2015. William and Desiree had three sons and moved to St. Martin where they spent the rest of their lives. Together they built a home. She received her BS in Nursing from William Carey. She served Veterans with patience and kindness as a RN at the Biloxi VA. William worked to create his own electrical business. She loved animals especially dogs and cats. They rescued many strays throughout their marriage and always had a herd of cats. Together, they loved to fish, travel, and scuba dive. Their dream was to retire and fish on their boat.
Desiree’s greatest achievements have been in the lives of her family and friends. She had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the talents in others and to make them feel loved. Her creative mind, kind heart, wicked laugh, and brilliant smile allowed her to make everything sparkle. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family and friends. She leaves all her family with the knowledge that they were truly loved.
