Dianne Glenn Harenski

Dianne Glenn Harenski, age 81, of Biloxi, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Mrs. Harenski was a longtime resident of Biloxi. She was born and raised in Laurel, MS.  Upon graduating high school, she moved to Biloxi where she worked at the Broadwater Hotel as a hairstylist for movie stars filming on the Gulf Coast. While living in Biloxi, she met and married Walter J. Harenski, Jr. They had one child, Robert G. Harenski, who is an attorney and serves as Prosecutor for Biloxi.

Mrs. Harenski was honored to serve as a Biloxi City Councilmember for two terms, President of Women in Government for the State of Mississippi, and as a Commissioner on Gulf Regional Planning Commission. While serving as a Councilmember, she was very proud of the part she played in helping bring legalized gambling to Mississippi and Biloxi, starting the Seafood Industry Museum, making the motion for the City of Biloxi to contribute “seed money” in support of the very first “Cruisin’ the Coast,” saving the Joe Moran Mural/wall from the Old Biloxi Hospital, and preserving Hiller Park and the Biloxi libraries.

Mrs. Harenski was predeceased in death by her parents, R. L. Glenn, Jr., and Juliet Barnes Glenn; her beloved husband, Walter J. Harenski, Jr. (USAF Ret. Maj.); and brother, Thomas E. Glenn. She is survived by her son, Robert G. Harenski; niece, Mary Ann Harris; cousin, Bridget Glenn Berins; and granddog “Oreo”.

The family would like to thank Tehdra Misko, Ah Ling Weldon, and Sondra Levin (from Cornerstone Caregiving), and the St. Joseph’s Hospice for the friendship and excellent care that they provided.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2023, with a funeral service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2023, all at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road in Biloxi. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Biloxi National Cemetery.
