Dolores I. Hawks, 76, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed into Eternal Life Wednesday, September 14, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on April 12, 1935 at St. Mary's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up there and lived there until the 1960's when her husband and 5 children moved to California. She retired with her Husband, John, to St. George, Utah. She later lived in Battlement Mesa, CO and then moved to Ocean Springs, MS in 2008. She was a resident at the Villa Maria Apartments. Dolores was fond of Angels. Energetic and feisty, she was well known to Law Enforcement in several states. She did frequent volunteer work at nursing homes and for community groups. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She had an avid interest in the archeology in the American Southwest. She was part Blackfoot Indian and enjoyed learning about all Native American Culture. She loved being outdoors, being active and going for long walks. She didn't like "grass to grow under her feet." She always loved helping and being around children. She was always happy, joyful and loving. Her fun loving spirit will never be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John L. Hawks.
She is survived by her brother, Ralph Johnson (Barbara); children, John L. Hawks Jr. (Marijean), Michael Hawks (Laurie), Joann Moore (Charles), Patrick Hawks (Diane), Donna Hawks; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, it was her request that donations be sent to St. Alphonsus Catholic School. 504 Jackson Ave., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
