Donald Gene Dorsey

Donald Gene Dorsey "Don" 81, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on November 11, 2019. Don was born in Crete, Nebraska to father Charles and mother Dorthy. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he attended high school before joining the Navy in 1955. Don met and married his wife Evelyn in 1956 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Don served in the United States Navy for almost 30 years in the field of aircraft maintenance. Don was a Vietnam Veteran, receiving 7 Good Conduct awards and 2 Navy Commendation Medals along with numerous other awards and medals. He proudly severed with the highest level of integrity and honor until he retired in November 1984. After retiring, Don attended college and earned his degree in welding. In 1989 Don and his wife Evelyn decided to travel around and the see the country in their RV before they settled down in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1995. In 2011 Don became a longtime resident at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi. Don is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, mother Dorthy, and father Charles. He is survived by his son Donald of Kansas City MO, daughter Vicki of San Antonio TX, sister Sharon Reid of Omaha NE, sister Janet Soukup of Chino Valley, AZ, 4 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
