Donald Joseph Meyerchick, Jr.

Donald Joseph Meyerchick, Jr., age 69, of Gulfport passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at his home.

Mr. Meyerchick was born on January 14, 1954 in Jacksonville, FL.  He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in County Club Hill, IL (class of 1972) and attended Mississippi State University from 1972 until 1976, on a football scholarship. His interests included football, fishing, March Madness, all things Chicago, hot slots, and winning scratchers. “HAIL STATE”

Mr. Meyerchick was preceded in death by his parents, Donald J. Meyerchick, Sr. and Mary Lou Wright Meyerchick; sister, Jill Meyerchick Champagne; and sister-in-law, Karen Johnson Meyerchick.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Carder Meyerchick; siblings, Nancy Meyerchick Managhan and family, Paul Andrew Meyerchick and family, and Erik Lou Meyerchick and son; brother-in-law, Edward Champagne and family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wall and staff at Hope Oncology, nurses in the infusion lab at Memorial Hospital, Gulfport, and the nurses and staff at Kare-In-Home for the compassion and care they gave to Don over the last year during his battle with stage 4 lung cancer.

A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Meyerchick family.
