Donald Stabler

Donald Frederic "Fred" Stabler, 58, of Gautier passed away in a boating accident on June 14, 2006. Mr. Stabler was a resident of Gautier, MS. He received his Bachelors degree in Wildlife Management at Washington State University in Pullman, WA and his Masters degree of Fishery Resource from the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID. He retired in January 2005 from the Department of the Interior. He worked closely with and was a strong advocate for Bat Conservation International. Mr. Stabler was an avid fly fisherman belonging to the American Fisheries Society and the Historic Ocean Springs Saltwater Flyfishing Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Arthur P. Stabler; mother, Jane Gamble Stabler and uncle, Tarleton Brooke Stabler. Mr. Stabler is survived by his wife, Johnnye Stabler of Gautier; his daughter, Kelly J. Haag (Raymond) of Rawlins, WY; two sons, Keith P. Emery (Debra) of Seaside, CA and Kevin S. Emery (Cynthia) of Gonzales, CA; his sister, Jennifer Stabler-Holland (Peter) of Union Town, WA; mother-in-law, Betty Bingham of Vancleave, MS and nine grandchildren. Private Services were held. The family requests a memorial donation in lieu of flowers to Bat Conservation International, PO Box 162603, Austin, TX 78716. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes of Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.
