On Saturday, June 1, 2024, Doris Inez Bangs “Granny”, a loving wife, mother, and granny passed away at the age of 84.
Doris was born in South Carolina to James Rushton and Margaret Kaye. She received a nurse aid degree and worked in home health for the majority of her life. Then she became a teacher’s aide after she retired from home health. She loved her family and friends, but her great- great grandbabies were her heart. She wouldn’t ask about anything first but to see how her babies were doing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Bangs; two babies, Doug Jr. and Crystal Faye; two sisters; and a brother.
Doris is survived by her children, Elaine Collins, Mary Waltman, and James Avery; grandkids, Jason Collins, Christina Collins, Cody Landers, Daniel Thompson, Crystal Thompson, and Brandy Thompson; and her great-grandkids, Jessie and Ashley Waltman, Azlyn and Savannah Waltman, Joshua Dossett, Timmy and Savannah Childers, Elijah and Destanie Glasenapp, Henry Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Sabrina Hernander, Jerrett and Jeremy Hernander, Luke Collins, Skylar Collins, Preston Pace, Rose Pace, and Angel Pace; and great-great grandkids, Judith Waltman, Joy Waltman, Jessie Waltman III, Kinsleigh Childers, Adrian Dossett, Eleana Glasenapp, Emerson Glasenapp, Oaklyn Mae Waltman, Weston Pace, and Waverlee Pace.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Vancleave. Friends may visit from 12:00pm until service time.
