Doris Murphy Balius, age 80, of Gulfport, died Friday, October 10, 2008 in Gulfport. Mrs. Balius was born in Napoleon, Ms and was a lifelong resident of the Coast. She was a member of Handsboro United Methodist Church and enjoyed a lifelong love of arts and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles B. Murphy and Mary Elizabeth Starks Murphy; four brothers, Calvin Murphy, Charles Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Mike Murphy; and three sisters, Lucille Witter, Nancy Murphy, and Claudia Murphy.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick Alton Balius, Sr. of Gulfport; three daughters, Mary Anne Walker (Art) of Gulfport, Debra Kay McCann (George) of Folsom, LA, and Angela Fay Moody (David) of Flower Mound, TX; four sons, Fredrick A. Balius, Jr. (Julie) of Thurmont, MD, John E. Balius (Marty) of Ironton, MO, B. Jeffery Balius (Lizette) of Mandeville, LA, and Richard B. Balius (Paige) of Austin, TX; a sister, Margaret Ann Ladner (George) of Pearlington; a brother, Roberick Murphy of Bay St. Louis; and eight grandchildren, Chet, Stuart, Trent, Ross, Kyle, Lee, Nicole, and Lance.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi where friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until the service. Graveside service at Biloxi National Cemetery will be private.
