Dorothy "Dot" Fairley Letort, 101, of St. Martin, MS peacefully passed away on December 1, 2022. She was born on November 5, 1921 in George County to Neil and Aquilla Fairley. After high school, Dot attended Perkinston Community College where she played basketball and earned her teaching degree. While teaching at St. Martin, she met the love of her life, Otis Pete Letort. She was a lifelong member of Heritage United Methodist Church where she was devoted to serving her Lord and others. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. Dot will be remembered for her loyalty, sense of humor, and faithfulness to everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; her siblings, Neldra (Huntley) Green, Gladys (Pat) Patterson, David (Vivian) Fairley, Marie (Alva) Rouse, Ralph (Melba) Fairley, and NG Fairley; and her great-grandson, Nathaniel Cochran.
Dot is survived by her children, Janice (Harry) Cochran and Patsy (Jackie) Richards; 6 grandchildren, Sandy (Jamie) Cochran, Cissy Cochran, Aquila Cochran, Zack (Jeana) Cochran, Lance (Shannon) Richards and Jason (Michelle) Richards; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter, and her sister-in-law, Patsy Fairley.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at Smith Manor Assisted Living and Enhabit Hospice for all the loving care that was given to our Mother.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Heritage United Methodist Church in D’Iberville.
Funeral Services will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Bosarge Cemetery.
