Dorothy Elaine Purvis

Dorothy Elaine Purvis, age 70, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

Mrs. Purvis was a longtime resident of the MS Gulf Coast. She was a graduate of Gulfport High School, Commadores, Class of 1970. She also graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College with an associate’s degree in Nursing. Mrs. Purvis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was loving to anyone who knew her. Elaine was notorious for giving the "Elaine look". She loved 50's and 60's music, but her favorite was Herman and the Hermits and Elvis. She enjoyed boating, fishing, visiting with family and friends and having extended lunch dates with friends. Elaine was the biggest supporter in her family’s lives. It didn't matter what the goal was, she was there to stand behind them and push them to achieve it.

Mrs. Purvis was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Audrey Jackson, Sr and her brother Edwin Jackson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, George Purvis; 2 daughters, Sheree' and Shanna "Shae" Purvis; 4 grandchildren, Gelana Groce, Ashlyn (Christian) Mesa, Gaven (Aaliyah) Groce and Gage Purvis; and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Evers and brothers, Bruce Jackson, Jr, Pete Jackson and James V. "Willie" Jackson.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street in Gulfport. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Graveside service will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Fellowship will follow at The American Legion at 12320 Ashley Drive Gulfport, MS 39503.
