Dorothy Rose, 82, passed away August 27, 2013 following a brief illness.
Born on May 18, 1931 in Lucedale, MS, she spent her childhood and adult life in Biloxi. Known as Dot to family and friends, she was a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW. Mrs. Rose was well known for her sewing and knitting expertise and made numerous donations of handmade toys to special needs children organizations as well as knitted hats for babies at Biloxi Regional Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred J. “Billy” Rose, Sr.; parents, Minnie Lee Meadows Frye and William H. Frye, Sr.; brother, William H. Frye, Jr.; and sister, Helen Rae Frye.
Survivors include her five children, Wilfred J. “Joey” Rose Jr., (Sheley) from Sevierville, TN, Victoria “Vicky” Rose Rosetti (Jake) of Biloxi, Wanda Rose Cockrell (Barry) of Ridgeland, Gerald “Jerry” Rose of Biloxi, Rebecca Rose Riley (Keith) of Lexington, OH; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Damien Rosetti, Katie Rosetti Held (Michael), Josie Rose Forde and Wilfred J. Rose, III (Jessica), Caroline Cockrell Browning (Drew), Brian and Mollie Cockrell, Rachel, Gretchen and Keegan Riley; great grandchildren, Hannah Forde, Alex Rose, Avery and Michael Held, III.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to Hospice of Light, 11 Marks Rd., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home from 1:15 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. View and sign register book at www.bradfordokeefe.com
