Dr. Clyde E. Spraberry, Jr. “Bud”, passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2022. He was born in New Albany, MS on August 3, 1942 to Clyde E. Spraberry, Sr. and Johnnie Wade Spraberry.
Bud attended Mississippi State University and joined Kappa Sigma fraternity, then graduated from University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in 1965. There, he was a member of Psi Omega Fraternity and earned the distinguished International College of Dentist Award. Bud joined the United States Army and served one year in Vietnam which earned him the Army Commendation medal for Meritorious Service. He also achieved the rank of Major. Bud married his high school sweetheart, Sara Regina Dugan. Together with their 2 sons, they moved to the Coast in 1969 and opened Spraberry Dental Clinic in Orange Grove. Bud was a well-respected and beloved dentist for 49 years. He shared his passion for dentistry with his son, Chris, who joined him in practice in 1995. During his profession, he sat for the State Board of Dental Examiners (past President), and was a member of the American Dental Association and the 5th District Dental Society. Other organizations he was involved in were the Civitans Club, MSU Bulldog Club and Windance Country Club.
Bud and Gina loved to travel and took many memorable trips together with friends and family. He also loved golf, fishing on Grenada Lake or near their camp in Pearlington, coaching his sons little league teams and attending MSU sporting events rain or shine.
Bud is predeceased by his parents; his brother, James Wade Spraberry; and his son, Dr. Christopher Ethan Spraberry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sara D. (Gina) Spraberry; his children, Clayton Edward Spraberry (Janie) and Audrey Dianne Spraberry Walker (Todd); grandchildren, Randall Clayton Spraberry, Charlie Beasley, Griffin Beasley, Sara Ethan Beasley, Baker Beasley and Jadyn Rose Spraberry; great-grandson, Randall Calvin Spraberry; sister, Kathryn Spraberry Garner (Walter); brother-in-law, Lawrence Clayton Dugan; sisters-in-law, Dianne Dugan Hensley (Tom) and Diane Poore Spraberry; nieces, Michelle, Lesa, Susan, Libby, Lee, Dodie, and Dawn; and nephews, Wade, Kyle, and Clayton. Heartfelt thank you to Kare-in-Home and loving caregivers Angel, Jeanie, Mandy, Vanessa, Andrea and Lonnie.
A private family service was held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the O’Neal Road Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, and was led by family friend Neil Tapp. Place of interment is Floral Hills Cemetery. The O’Neal Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Spraberry family.
