Dr. John C. Hanson Phd., 41, of Gulfport, MS died Sunday, November 13, 2005 in Gulfport.
Dr. Hanson was a native of Gadsden, Alabama, a former longtime resident of Birmingham, Alabama and he had been a resident of the coast since 1991. Dr. Hanson graduated from Birmingham Southern College where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He also received his Masters and Phd from University of Southern Mississippi. He had been employed at the Biloxi VA as a staff Psychologist since 1992. Dr. Hanson was also a commissioned officer in the Harrison and Jackson County Sheriff Departments where he worked as a hostage negotiator. He was a devoted and loving husband. He was a member of the RCIA at St. James Catholic Church.
Dr. Hanson was preceded in death by his father, John F. Hanson. He is survived by his wife, Laura S. Hanson; two daughters, Julia Hanson and Erin Hanson; his mother, Charlene Hanson of Birmingham, Alabama; and a sister, Allison Hanson-Smith and her husband Steve.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 17, 2005 at St. James Catholic Church at 1:00pm where friends may visit one hour prior to service time.
