Duane Edward Lloyd, 82, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away December 13, 2009 in Ocean Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Esther Lloyd, two sisters, Jacquelyn Lloyd Bailey and Shirley Lloyd Baker and his son, David Edward Lloyd. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Fountain Lloyd, 2 daughters, Jamie Lloyd and Tracy Lloyd Reynolds, son-in-law, David Reynolds, brother, Curtis Lloyd, 3 grandchildren, Brooke Reynolds, Michael Reynolds, Justin Reynolds and nieces, nephews and friends. Duane was born in Detroit, MI, January 14, 1927, and moved with his family to Ocean Springs in 1944 where he graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1945. Following two years active duty in the U.S. Army, he attended Perkinston Junior College and Millsaps College receiving a BS degree. He worked as a Civil Service instructor at Keesler Air Force Base for over 36 years prior to retirement in 1985. Working outdoors in the yard and in his vegetable garden, attending his grandchildren's activities and spending time with family and friends were what he most enjoyed in retirement. He was also a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 6 PM - 8 PM with a 7:30 PM rosary all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Wednesday, December 16, 2009, there will be a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where friends may call from 9 AM - 10 AM. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Pharmacy 715 Division Street, Biloxi, MS 39530.
