Earnest Crawford Kendrick, 85 passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 24, 2022.
He was born on May 19, 1937 in Columbia, MS. He served in the National Guard and Coast Guard. Earnest worked at Broome’s Grocery for thirty years and is still famous for giving away “little smokies.” He later worked at Rouses Market in Ocean Springs, but left to be a full-time caretaker to the love of his life.
Earnest will be deeply missed and always remembered for his sense of humor. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh by telling a story or cracking a joke.
He is preceded in death by his precious wife of fifty-seven years, Evelyn Voncile Kendrick; brother, Clifford Kendrick; mother, Alene Alexander King; and father, Ezell Kendrick.
Earnest is survived by his son, Roger (Jennifer) Kendrick; daughter, Melissa (Kent) Lassiter; and three grandchildren, Sarah Broussard, Cody Pate, and Emilee Heinrich.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sarah Holcomb for her prayers, compassion, dedication, and friendship as his personal caretaker and also to the director, nurses, and chaplain at Hospice of Light.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Pate, Chris Kendrick, Lonnie Lowery, Jason Orr, Timmy Heinrich, Matthew Seymour, and Honorary Pallbearer, Darin Glover.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Vancleave, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Vancleave #1 Cemetery.
