Earnest Harold Rogers, 78, of Gulfport, MS, died Friday, July 28th in Oceanside, California where he was currently residing with his daughter.
Mr. Rogers was born in Chicago, IL, grew up in Knoxville, TN and had been a long-time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Known by “Butch”, “Rog”, “Ernie”, “Dad”, “Pops” and “Pepa”; he was loved by everyone he met. Mr. Rogers served 26 years as a Seabee in the Navy where he had 3 tours to Vietnam, is a former employee of the South Mississippi Regional Center, and a long- time parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Ann Rogers of Gulfport; eldest daughter, Sherry Rogers of Dunedin, FL; both parents, Ernest and Ella Rogers of Knoxville, TN; and his younger sister, Teri-Lynn Rogers also of Knoxville, TN.
Survivors include his daughter, Shelly Rogers Renn of Vista, CA; son, Thomas Rogers of Gulfport, MS; six grandchildren, Brittany, Sean, Michael, Thomas, Nicole “Nikki”, and Amanda as well as nice great grandchildren, Brandon, Addison, Lucas, Reagan, Noah, Brayden, Kehaulani, Oliver, and Autumn.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30am on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Rd., Biloxi, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
