Mr. Edward Louis Blomberg, Sr., was called home to eternal life with God on Saturday morning February 26, 2005. His life of 68 years on this earth was a living example of what it means to be a devoted husband, loving dad and grandfather.
Edward was a native Biloxian born on November 2, 1936. He attended public schools in Biloxi where he graduated from Biloxi Senior High in 1956. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a longtime Scout member of Troop 213 and Advisor for the Explorers. He also was a longtime member of the Biloxi Jaycee's. Employed with Borden's, then for many years with Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula until retirement. He was a member and a Eucharist Minister of St. John's Catholic Church and a friend to all. His loving smile and good humor will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Madeline Blomberg, Sr. and brother Howard M. Blomberg, Jr. Survivors include his devoted wife of 49 years, Velma Fay Blomberg of Biloxi, daughters, Lee Anna Giovanni of Ragley,LA. and Patricia B. Woods of Ocean Springs, son, Edward L. Blomberg, Jr., of Biloxi, MS., nine grandchildren, Amanda Demoruelle, Jana Demoruelle, Fallon Demoruelle, Michael Trahan, Gretta Giovanni, John Woods, Alicia Woods Capps, Stephanie Woods, Catlin Woods, ten great-grandchildren, Samantha Demoruelle, Callie Handler, Michelle Demoruelle, Deon Demoruelle, Donovan Demoruelle, Felicity McCloskey, Luke McCloskey III, Drake Woods, Ethan Capps, Jayla Giovanni, a nephew and two nieces.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, from 1-2 PM, with a 2 PM Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
