Elaine Roehm Mangano, age 99, of Gulfport, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022. Ms. Mangano was a longtime resident of Gulfport. She was born May 5, 1923 in Buffalo, NY and graduated from St. Luke's in New York with a nursing degree. Ms. Mangano joined the Navy Nurse Corps where she served as a nurse during WWII. At war's end, she married Gino J. Mangano and moved to Gulfport, MS where she continued her nursing career, along with raising and tending her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Marie (Griffin) Roehm; her loving husband, Gino Joseph Mangano; her siblings, Marilyn (Roehm) Dallas and Russell Roehm.
Ms. Mangano’s survivors include her daughters, Dona, Gail, Diane (Leslie), and Gina (Dowd) Mangano; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson.
Special thanks go out to Dr. M Maalouf, the staff at Seashore Highlands Assisted Living and Memory Care facility, Notre Dame Hospice, and Fr. Ryan McCoy of St. James Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport, from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm at Evergreen Gardens, 28th Street, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Seashore Highlands Assisted Living facility, Notre Dame Hospice or the Humane Society of South MS.
