Elbert often said that God promised him 70 years, and that every year thereafter was a bonus. God blessed him with twelve bonuses.
Elbert Cain Williams of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on November 17, 2007, at the age of 82.
On September 29, 1925, Elbert was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a World War II Veteran as a member of the Army Air Corps. Soon after the War ended, Elbert graduated from Millsaps College. He lived in Jackson until he moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1970. Along with his wife Billie, Elbert was the owner of Williams Auto Parts and the Pass Road Tire Center on Pass Road in Gulfport until he retired in 1980. Elbert was a well-known bridge player and member of the Gulf Coast Bridge Association, as well as an avid golfer and former member of the Broadwater Country Club.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Lee Williams; his father, MJ Williams; and his mother, Alice Peavy Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Billie Jean Daniel Williams; his brothers, MJ Williams, Jr. (Bethesda, MD) and John A. Williams (Gulfport); his son, Elbert C. (Butch) Williams, Jr., and his wife, Camille S. Butler Williams (Gulfport); his daughter, Diana Lynn Williams Kelly, and her husband, Gene V. Kelly (Diamondhead); his grandchildren, Christi Ann Roberts Kolb, and her husband, Ray Kolb (Daphne, AL); Teresa C. Williams Huckaby and her husband, Michael Huckaby (Switzerland); and Trenton Daniel Williams (Richmond, Virginia); and his great-granddaughters, Sydney and Emory Huckaby, and step-great-granddaughter, Rachel Kolb.
Private services will be held. The family requests no flowers. Any contributions should be made to your favorite charity.
