Elizabeth "Betty" Gollott Skermetta, age 77, of Biloxi, MS passed away on March 9, 2010 in Biloxi, MS. A long time resident of the coast. She worked in many restaurants, Mary's Drive-In, Popps Ferry Restaurant, Sea & Sirloin, and the Sun & Sand, later she owned and operated the Seafood Hut (Now known as Port of Call) in North Biloxi. She also worked with her husband, E.M. Gollott in the family seafood business, Gulf Pride Enterprises until their retirement due to his illness. She was involved with Nativity BVM RCIA program for many years and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She took up painting and pottery classes to satisfy her love for art. She loved to travel which she did extensively, her real joy was gardening and working in her yard. She also enjoyed cooking large meals and entertaining friends and family since she was an excellent cook. An avid love for interior design led to her opening a home decor store, Design Works in Biloxi. She was prececded in death by her parents, Josiah F. and Helen Lovering of Portland Maine; her husband, Edgar Madison Gollott of Biloxi, MS; two daughters, Helen Monahan Young and baby girl, Cindy Gollott; two brothers, Clayton Lovering and Kenneth Lovering of Maine; two sisters, Elva Lovering Wilson and Dorothy Newcombe of Maine. She is survived by her husband Daniel G. "Donnie" Skermetta; three daughters, Ann Gary of Biloxi, MS, Janet and Buck Seymour of Biloxi, MS, Kathy and Ben Cruthirds of Latimer, MS; two sons, Wally and Leslie Gollott of Ocean Springs, MS, Jon and Michelle Gollott Gautier, MS; two step-daughters, Kathy (Robert) Brooks of Ocean Springs, MS, Diane Skermetta of FL; four step-sons, Richard (Tookie) Gollott of DIberville, MS, David (Judy) Gollott of Ocean Springs, MS, Douglas (Peggy) Gollott of Ocean Springs, MS, Dan (Alicia) Skermetta of LA; nine grandsons, Brandon (Kim) Seymour, Drae Mitchell, Dalton Mitchell, Justin (Shauna) Gollott, Richie (Kelcey) Gollott, Anthony (Gindy) Taranto, David Jr (Robin) Gollott, Stephen (Amber) Gollott, Matthew Brooks; nineteen granddaughters, Shelli (John) Mohan, Patti (Billy) Guice, Jill (Casey) Eure, Melanie (Jody) Pittman, Brandy (Nick) Zeigler, Jessica Cruthirds, Ashleigh (Anthony) Barton, Lacie Gollott, Alyssa Young, Kassie (Bryan) Bourque Shelly (Kelly) Walker, Dana (Lee) Whorton, Dawn (Jeff) Barske, Jennifer (Ashley) Harris, Julie (Kelly) Barrett, Terri (Garry) McKenzie, Shelli (Bryan) Vandewark, Alyssa (Justin) Rambo, Jill (Mike) Convenuto; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wished to thank Dr. Benjamin Skelton, Debbie Hall at Camellia Hospice, Father Greg Barras, Sister Mary Riordan, Pastor Murphy Matheny, and countless dear friends who have comforted us during this time. Visitation will be Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi. A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, March 12, 2010 at Nativity BVM at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until mass time. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
