Elizabeth Dawn Waters

Elizabeth Dawn Waters, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister peacefully passed away on August 23, 2023, surrounded by her cherished loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Elizabeth travelled the world as an Air Force wife and worked for over 35 years as a civilian for the Air Force and Navy.  Elizabeth had many roles throughout her career, leaving a lasting impression with all those she came in contact with.  Elizabeth also had a passion for volunteering and served her communities in various positions. 

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Betty Nilsson. 

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Clifford Waters, who shared a lifelong journey of love and companionship with her.  She is also survived by her daughter, Kristen Wheelock (Ryan); son, Gordon Waters (Lauren); sister, Helen Nilsson (Jenny); and her three grandsons, Nolan Wheelock, Archie Wheelock, and Collin Schenkenberg.  Elizabeth’s most cherished role was as a grandmother.  

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the healthcare professionals that played a pivotal role in her care over the past few weeks including staff at Ocean Springs Hospital, The University of South Alabama, Encompass Rehabilitation, Dr. Hightower and her amazing nurse Katie Mullen, and Canon Hospice.  Her providers showed an immense amount of compassion to Elizabeth and her family over the course of her brief, sudden illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Eat, Drink, Love in Ocean Springs, MS from 11:00am-1:00pm.
