Ellen Alice Palmer

Mrs. Ellen Alice Palmer, age 94, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was born in Gulfport and was a lifelong resident. Ellen was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. John’s Altar Society, the American Legion, and Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Staff Sergeant Taswell Pearson, a casualty of World War II; husband, Cliff Palmer; daughter, Barbara Pearson Allen; and parents, Sidney and Viola Moran Hanrahan. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Palmer Gill; granddaughters, Ellen Allen, Elizabeth Allen Pierce, Debra Allen (John) Godber, Tara Gill (Mike) Ply, and Lara Gill; as well as great-grandchildren, Brittany Godber, John Godber, Jr., Amy Godber, Alana Ply, Kira Ply, and Erik Ply. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Gulfport at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour before. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport. Memorial contributions may be made in Ellen’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Society for Hurricane Michael relief c/o St. John Catholic Church, 2414 17th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501.
