Elmarita Mary Saucier

Mrs. Elmarita M. Trochesset Saucier, 69, of D'Iberville, MS, passed into the loving arms of our Blessed Lord Thursday, October 15, 2009, in Biloxi, after a short battle with cancer. Elmarita was born January 5, 1940 in Biloxi and grew up in the Biloxi-D'Iberville area. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the D'Iberville Community Club where she was the 2009 Mardi Gras Queen. She was also a member of the North Bay Area Mardi Gras Association and an avid volunteer with the D'Iberville Disaster Volunteer Center. Elmarita was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Saucier; parents, Edward and Mercedes Trochesset; brother, Ronald Trochesset; and son-in-law, Samuel Gill, Jr. She is survived by her children, Elwood J. Saucier, Jr., Ethridge (Janice) Saucier, Tina (James) Cimino, Helen (Mickey) Morris, Joseph Saucier, and Mary (Eley) Ewing; grandchildren, Samuel "Trey" and Kimberly Gill, Jessica and Bo Westall, Stephen "Cody" Saucier, P. J. and Hannah Saucier, Eley and Steven Ewing; step-grandchildren, Michael, Richard, and Kenny Morris, Joey, Lindsey, and Ashton Newman; great grandchildren, Ryan McClellan and Collin Evans, Bailey Newman, Isabelle Clinton, Olivia and Ethan Morris; brothers, Edward (Ginger) Trochesset and Johnny (Kathy) Trochesset; and one sister, Henritta Jones. Elmarita enjoyed being around her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, ceramics, painting, and taking trips with her good friend, Vicki Roberts. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew her. A special thanks goes out to her doctor, Dr. Y. Bethala, for all the great care she provided, and to Mr. Ed Cake and Mrs. Irene McIntosh for all the love and help you gave her to get her house up and finished. You will never know the blessing you have been to us, and especially our mom. Also a special thanks goes to Ms. Toni Nell for everything you have done to help in her final weeks. Again, thanks to all. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 10446 Lemoyne Blvd, D'Iberville, MS 39540. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Ave, Biloxi, is in charge of arrangements.
