Mrs. Elvia Ixl Amacker, 81, of Gulfport, MS, died Saturday, June 12, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Amacker was born in Spring Creek, MS, and had been a longtime resident of Bogalusa, LA. She was a nurse and worked with Dr. Glynn Hebert many years before retiring. After being widowed in 1993, she moved to the coast to live closer to her daughter. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis B. Amacker; parents, Alex and Nelvia Forbes Pritchard; son, Ronald Willis Amacker; sister, Jessie Lee Mixon; and brother, Dorman Reed Pritchard. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Amacker Murdock of Gulfport; sisters, Gladys Marie Hollis of Rayville, LA and Alexis Janis "Cookie" Morton of Slidell, LA; brother, Arthur James "Sonny" Pritchard of Picayune; four grandchildren, BreAnne Murdock DuCote, Timothy Christian Amacker, Corey Blake Amacker and Randy Joseph Bouquet'; and one great-grandson, Logan Nathaniel Amacker. Her love and strength has held our family together, and we will miss her.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, in Gulfport where friends may visit from 12 noon until service time.
