Elvis Lawrence Fayard, 82, of D'Iberville, MS died on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Mr. Fayard was a native and lifelong resident of D'Iberville. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, started the Altar Boy Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was president of St. Theresa School Mens Club and also Notre Dame High School Mens Club. Mr. Fayard was retired from Southern Life and Health Ins. Co. He was an avid fisherman and a former softball player and the #1 University of Notre Dame, fighting Irish football fan.
Mr. Fayard is preceded in death by his parents, Emile R. and Dorinda Seymour Fayard; son, James "Jimmie" Fayard, Sr.; grandson, James M. "Lil Jimmie" Fayard, Jr.; sister, Grace Fayard Scarborough; brothers, Polite, Emile, Jr. and Wallace Fayard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marie Vuyovich Fayard; daughter, Dorinda Fayard; sons, Elvas Fayard (Barbara) and Keith Fayard (Delores); daughter-in-law, Johnnie Lynn Fayard; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until mass time. Interment will follow in D'Iberville Memorial Park.
