Elwood T. Creel, age 84, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015.
Mr. Creel was a native and lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was a former fisherman and retired from Western Geophysical Oil Exploration Company. Mr. Creel was a former member of Blessed Seelos Catholic Church (St. John’s) and Biloxi Elks Lodge. He was a kind hearted, gentle man who never met a stranger. Mr. Creel dedicated his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching and cheering for his favorite teams, the New Orleans Saints, New York Yankees, and Ole Miss Rebels.
Mr. Creel is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore “Tody” and Katie Ellis Creel; his brother, Norman “Blackie” Creel; his sister, Lurline Little; and his son-in-law, Ed Daughtrey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shannon Brown Creel; his daughters, Debbie Daughtrey and Dianne (Nelson) Kajdan; his sons, Jimmy Creel and Donnie (Shelley) Creel; his brothers, Teddy (Mary) Creel and Larry Creel; his grandchildren, Doug (June) Ellzey, Brandon Jones (Frank) , Ashley (Dan) Jones, Amber (John) Bourgeois, Bryan Daughtrey, Andrea (Jeremy) Thames and Austin Creel; and his great-grandchildren, Ian, Aiden, MaryKate, Anna-Clare, Kadan, John Joseph, Eli and Olivia.
Many thanks to Dr. Regina Mills and the staff of Deaconess Hospice, as well as the staff on the 6th floor at Biloxi Regional Medical Center for all the wonderful care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Seelos Catholic Church on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until mass time.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
