Mrs. Emily Breal Johnson, age 50, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Sunday, February 27, 2005, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Johnson was a resident of the community for three years. She was a 1972 graduate of Long Beach High School. She attended Mastin School of Nursing and graduated in 1975. She was employed at Howard Memorial Hospital in Biloxi and various other locations throughout the southeast, including Richmond Hill, GA. , where she worked as a home health nurse. Mrs. Johnson was also a librarian in Fredericksburg, VA., for many years. She returned to the coast in 2002 and recently re-established her nursing license and was planning to continue nursing here on the coast. She was a selfless person with a keen intellect. Her hobbies included being an avid crossword player, quilter, and collector of lighthouses. Mrs. Johnson was a devoted mother and good friend to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Lida Morgan Breal. She is survived by three sons, Adam Johnson of Alexandria, VA., Daniel Johnson of Fredericksburg, VA., Caleb Johnson of Ocean Springs, MS., and their father, Mark Johnson of Alexandria, VA., a sister, Stephanie Mermilliod and husband, Chuck, of Biloxi, MS., and two brothers, David Breal and wife, Joyce, of Pensacola, FL., and Frank Duvic III, and wife, Lori, of Atlanta, GA.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 3, 2005, from 4-6 PM, with a 6 PM chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA., 30384-9410.
