Emily (Ms. Emily) Engel Ouimette, age 81, of Biloxi passed away March 21, 2012 in Diamondhead.
Emily was born November 23, 1930 in Queens, NY. She was a graduate of Bayside High School NY. Emily proudly served her country for 10 years in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, she met and married her husband Ed, also a member of the U.S. Air Force, in 1965. She and her husband arrived on the coast in February 1978, coming from Italy, and remained here till the present.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Gustave and Harriet Greenwald Engel.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Edward, of Biloxi; sisters, Carole Wilbourn of Manhattan, NY and Gail Mutrux and husband, Tony of Hollwood, CA; brother, Bernard Engel and wife Judy of Whitestone, NY; and nieces and nephews. Although she had no children of her own, Emily had many little ones that she loved and cared for. It was nothing for Ed to come home and find these little ones at his kitchen table coloring, playing games, or having a story read to them. These were her kids and she loved them.
The family wishes to thank the Woodland Nursing Center of Diamondhead for the wonderful care Emily received for the last 7 months of her life, especially to the staff of the 500 Hall where Emily was a resident. Our utmost thanks are given for their loving care and concern shown to her daily. No one could ask for more.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the MS Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA), P.O. Box 5943, Brandon, MS 39047.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 10:30 am until 11:30 am with an 11:30 am Service on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 all at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery with Military Honors.
