Emmett R. Thompson, Jr., 82, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009.
He had been a member of the community since 1967 and was a retired United States Air Force Veteran of World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Emmett retired from Civil Service as a Chief of Training Development in Air Traffic Control. He was a Scout Master of Troop #225 and assistant of Troop #212, Order of Arrow and Wood Badge Leader Trainer. He also served as a Trustee for Camp Wilkes Inc.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Grace Thompson and brother, Richard Thompson.
Survivors include his wife of forty eight years, Mary Lucille Thompson; three daughters, Deborah M. Slocum, Gloria Kay Haring and Linda S. Uren; two sons, David R. Thompson and Michael S. Thompson; sister, Alice Mae Mattingley; brother, Albert Thompson; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment to follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
