Ernest Glenn Grantham, 84, of Gulfport, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 in Gulfport. He was born in Lucedale and had been a resident of Gulfport for about 29 years.
He retired from United Gas Pipeline. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then served in the National Guard with the 631st in Lucedale, serving in the Korean conflict. Mr. Grantham was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Gulfport where he served as a Deacon, did volunteer work at the Seaman's Center, and church visiting.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and anything to do with electronics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Kate Grantham; a son, Steve Grantham; and two sisters, Eileen Hollinghead and Bernice Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Mary B. Grantham of Gulfport;
and his daughter, Glinda Lathan and her husband, Ted of Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 2, 2009, from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The funeral service will be Monday, August 3, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
