Ernest Lee Harvey, Sr., 78, of Biloxi died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in Biloxi.
Ernest was a native of New Orleans. He retired to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1989. He was a U.S.M.C. veteran of the Korean War and was a two time recipient of the Purple Heart. Ernest was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, the Slavic Lodge, Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #606 and Purple Heart Society. He retired from Civil Service and was a General Foreman for the U.S.C.G., 8th District.
Preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Lyons Harvey, parents, Albert C. and Ellen (Sansovich) Harvey, brother, Albert C. Harvey, Jr, sisters, Patricia H. Dalaney and Ellen H. Smith.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia H. Harris of Gretna, LA, sons, Ernest L. (Deanna) Harvey, Jr. of Harrahan, LA, John W.S. Harvey of Biloxi.
Family prefers memorials to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, 831 Carolee Circle, Biloxi, MS 39532 or the Slavic Benevolent Association, 703 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530.
Visitation is Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes, Biloxi. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 27, 2009, 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour prior to Mass. Interment is in Biloxi National Cemetery.
