Ernestine was born in Millport, AL. She spent the first part of her life in Caledonia, MS. It was there she met her husband James Wesley Shaw. James was in the US Air Force so they were relocating to different areas over the several years. During that time, they lived in San Antonio, TX, Longmont, CO. and eventually moved back to Caledonia, MS. In 1976, Ernestine and family moved to the MS Gulf Coast. Since then, Ernestine had been a resident of the coastal area living the last part of her life in Perkinston, MS. Ernestine is loved by many which is why she also answered to so many names such as Maw Maw, Tine, Aunt Tine and Mom. She was Ms. Shaw to several of the students of the Stone County Schools where she was a substitute teacher until her health caused her to give that up. She has fought a lengthy battle with numerous illnesses and became too weak to fight. She finally let go and went home to be with God on the night of 01 Aug 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mayfield Bowen and Earlie Mae Manasco Bowen; her great-grandson, Cameron James Shaw; and other relatives.
She is survived by her husband James; her son, Steven A Shaw and his wife Sandi Shaw; two daughters, Edwina Joyce Whitfield and her husband Daryle E. “ Butch” Whitfield Jr, Alice Faye Reel Burleson and her husband Gerry Burleson; several grandchildren, Jeffrey Fields, Steven A Shaw II, Brittany Angel Shaw, Brianne Fields Livingston and her husband Joshua Aaron Livingston, Brett A Shaw, Kerigan Marie Shaw, Amanda K Burleson, Grady Clay Burleson and many others that have adopted her as their Maw Maw; three great grandchildren, Isabella and Gabriel Livingston and Ava Danielle McCullum. There are also numerous others that called her mom and Maw Maw that she considered her own, because to her they were.
