Estela "Josie" Martinez Calhoun, 57, of Gulfport, MS went to be with our heavenly father on Friday, May 20, 2011. She was born on March 19, 1954 in Pharr, Texas to Carlos and Hortencia Martinez. She was the second oldest of six siblings. She was an employee at Winn-Dixie for 14 years. She loved her family, enjoyed music and dancing and lived life to the fullest. She is survived by her four children, Maritza (Gabriel) Gomez, Mel (Tangie) Carrillo, Melinda (Kendrick) McCarty and Jacquelyn Calhoun. Her husband Ralph B. Calhoun. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Cheryll and Jaime Gomez, Jadyn and Elias J. Carrillo, and her beloved Decarlos and Jala Calhoun. She also leaves to cherish in her memory four siblings, Sylvia (Julio) Gomez Jr, Graciela (Edgar) Serna Sr, Carlos Martinez Jr, Jesus (Jay) Martinez and many other nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dear and closest friend Karen Mejia. She is preceeded in death by her parents Carlos and Hortencia Martinez, her brother Nicolas Sandoval and her beloved poodle Carrie Elizabeth Calhoun. A Memorial Mass will be held in celebration of her life at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 2:00PM. Friends may visit from 1:00PM to Service time. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church 2090 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS. Special thanks to Ochsner Medical Hospital, Dr. Bazzet and friends and family far near.
