Ethel C. Cates

Ethel C. Cates, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Ms. Cates retired from Bausch and Lomb as an Optical Tech. She enjoyed playing Bunco with all her lady friends and traveling with the Ocean Springs Ladies Firman Auxiliary of which she was a member. She is preceded in death by her husband, Penny Cates; parents, John Edward Catchot and Mary Alice Dupont; brothers, A.J. Catchot and Carlos Catchot; and sister, Ines Sawyer Survivors include her children, Fran (Paul) Galle and Jo Lee (Kenny) Asher; grandchildren, Angela (Scott) Gray, John (Dawn) Harris, Courtney Asher, Lindell Asher, and Aaron Asher; and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 10:30 A.M. until service time. Interment will be at Red Creek Union Baptist Church in Vancleave, MS. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Lemoyne Place for their care.
